Activity: Introduction to Caving (Horizontal)

Experience Day: Beginner Stand-Up-Paddleboarding

 

Course Description: This activity involves learning the basics of Stand-Up-Paddleboarding on Flatwater. You will develop the skills to propel and manoeuvre your paddleboard, hopefully standing up.

 

Cost: £45 Half Day

Duration: Half Day - 10am to 1pm or 1.30pm to 4.30pm

You can upgrade to a full day by choosing another half day activity, or progress to a SUP Board river trip.

 

What you can expect:

  • To experience being underground

  • To see natural cave formations that are millions of years old

  • The opportunity to attempt underground squeezes and scrambles

  • To learn how caves and cave formations are formed

 

Who is it for / Pre-requisites: This course is for anyone with an interest in experiencing the amazing world underground. Suitable for families with young children 6+ (Guidance only). Client : Instructor Ratio 1:10.

Location and Travel Arrangements: The course will meet in the car park of the Castleton Visitors Centre (unless advised otherwise).  The group will then travel to a local cave to begin the experience. Clients will be expected to provide their own transport unless alternative arrangements are made in advance. Where possible we can collect clients from Bamford train station.

By Car: Please follow postcode S33 8WN, which will bring you to Castleton Visitor Centre.

By Train: Travel to Bamford Station in Derbyshire.

Local facilities: At the beginning of the day you will have access to food, drink and toilet facilities at the visitor centre. When we arrive at the cave there will be NO FACILITIES available.

What you should bring

    • Old clothing that you can get dirty
