Course Description: This experience is a hybrid activity linking climbing, scrambling and caving. It will involve clambering up, over and through rock boulders, but always having daylight in sight. A great family activity that can be adapted to suit the age and ability level of the group. Parents be warned, this is an activity that your children will likely excel at and walk away with bragging rights.

You can upgrade to a full day by choosing another half day activity (if compatible) or move onto our adventure caving trip. Please call for advice.

 

What you can expect:

  • To learn how to move effectively on rock

  • To challenge yourself to get through the smallest weasel holes

  • To learn how to safely spot people of a similar size

 

Who is it for / Pre-requisites: This course is for anyone wanting a little adventure. The terrain is uneven but we work through it at a slow pace. You can opt in and out of the weasel challenges as you wish. It is a great pre-requisite before going on a climbing or caving experience.

Location and Travel Arrangements: The course will meet in the car park of Outside Cafe in Hathersage..  The group will then travel to a local weaseling spot to begin the experience. Clients will be expected to provide their own transport unless alternative arrangements are made in advance. Where possible we can collect clients from Bamford or Dore train station.

By Car: Please follow postcode S33 8WN, which will bring you to Castleton Visitor Centre.

By Train: Travel to Bamford Station in Derbyshire.

Local facilities: At the beginning of the day you will have access to food, drink and toilet facilities at the visitor centre. When we arrive at the cave there will be NO FACILITIES available.

What you should bring

    • Old clothing that you can get dirty

    • Wellies, old trainers or walking boots

    • Full change of clothing

    • Buff or thin hat for under helmet (optional)

    • Parking fee (if required)
