Leadership Course: Hill and Moorland Leader -

Course Description: The Hill and Moorland Leader qualification enables experienced hill walkers to lead groups on day walks in the hills and moorlands of the United Kingdom and Ireland in summer conditions. It is ideal for people who work with Duke of Edinburgh groups, school groups, freelance navigation work, who want to confidently lead people in Hill and Moorland areas.

The qualification consists of 3 parts:
Training - 3 day course delivered by a Hill and Moorland Leader Course Provider
Consolidation - a period of time after the training course, to practise and refine the skills learnt during the training course
Assessment - 3 day assessment with a Hill and Moorland Leader Course Provider.

Who is it for:

Training Pre-requisites:

You must be 18 years old

You must have a genuine interest in Hill and Moorland walking and the supervision of groups

You must be registered on the qualification.

You must have an up-to-date logbook (preferably DLOG) with evidence of 20 varied Hill and Moorland walks

Location and Travel Arrangements:
The course will meet at the Hathersage Memorial Hall in Hathersage, S32 1DU (unless advised otherwise during booking). The group will then travel to a local Hillwalking venue for the remainder of the day. Clients will be expected to provide their own transport unless alternative arrangements are made in advance. Where possible we can collect clients from Dore and Totley Train Station or Hathersage Train Station
By Car: Please follow postcode S32 1DU, which will bring you to Hathersage in Derbyshire.
By Train: Travel to HathersageTrain Station in the Peak District.

Local facilities: At the beginning of the day you will have access to food, drink and toilet facilities at the Pub. When we out on the hill there MAY NOT be access to toilet facilities depending on the route we have planned.
